Yuletide Writer Letter 2022

Dear Writer,

Hi, and thanks so much for writing for one of these little fandoms I like! This is going to be my second Yuletide, and I hope to make it enjoyable!

In general
Likes: I really like worldbuilding! I also love stories that feel like another episode or chapter of canon, although exploring the unseen side/further future is also always fun. Format-wise, I do enjoy epistolary stories a lot, especially fake research papers or similar "official documentation." I love crossovers, so feel free to throw some in if you'd like!

Noncanon minor/adult relationships (canon relationships can be brought up, but not focused on) (18-year-olds with 16/17-year-olds are generally fine for me)

Kamisama no Iutoori
I'm really annoyed that it took me some time to realize there was an actual tag on AO3 for this manga. Despite everything about it, I still love a lot of the characters. I'm actually most interested in worldbuilding and alternate timelines here-I really want to see your ideas of what unseen games might have been played, or what might have happened if different characters ended up advancing during the Rock-Paper-Scissors game.

I also love a lot of the more minor characters, such as Fukumitsu, Susie, Fathma and Mert, and even super-minor characters such as the grocer's kid or the son of the glasses salesmen. I'd love to see you give them more depth! While I do prefer Ushimitsu and Akashi as a protag duo and have selected them in my request, I don't require you to write them if you'd rather do a minor-character focused story!

Crossover-wise, I'd be interested in seeing different casts go through the death games, or an exploration of the Kamisama cast meeting characters from other death games.

Series-specific DNWs:
Relationship-focused stories (by this I mean the story's primary genre shouldn't be romance, though I don't have anything against any particular ships)
Any interpretation of Tenma Yuu as a cis crossdressing male (you don't have to use or mention her at all if you'd prefer, and villainous/asshole characters can misgender her in-story but should be treated as obviously in the wrong)
Setting change AUs (basically anything that puts the characters in a world where the death game doesn't exist)

Hamster Princess
Ursula Vernon's books are always fun to read, and this is no exception! I'd love to see you tackle how Harriet handles something like Beauty and the Beast or Little Red Riding Hood. Heck, I'd even love to see how you could make a story like Bluebeard canon-appropriate!

I'm also somewhat interested in the idea of futurefic. I'm a big queer dork, so I'd love for an older Harriet to get paired up with a female character! Or for a longer timeskip, an older-but-still-active Harriet passing on exaggerated stories of her exploits to her children.

Crossover-wise, I'd be most interested in crossovers with some of Ursula Vernon's other work, such as Digger, Castle Hangnail, or Danny Dragonbreath! I'd also be interested in crossovers with T. Kingfisher's fairy tale adaptations.

World's Strangest Meet Cute

This comic was extremely adorable! I'd love to see some of the offscreen implied scene of the knight talking to the villagers, killing the mayor, and getting the truth, or slice-of-life adventures in the vein of the sequel comic! Perhaps something with the knight's first time staying overnight with the warlock, or warming up to the kids? I'm cool with OC kids as well!

Crossover-wise, it'd be cool to see characters from the artist's other comics pop up! Maybe a prequel where the knight happens upon the Crossroads of Destiny and is led to the village in the first place?

Nimona

I found this comic in the library one day and had my heart ripped out at the end. It's such an excellent little story even if the bittersweet ending made me cry. I'd really love to see post-canon fluff with Blackheart and Goldenloin rekindling their relationship, and Blackheart eventually finding Nimona again. Alternately, an AU based on the synopsis for the upcoming movie where Blackheart and Goldenloin are still at school together and have a younger Nimona stumble into their lives.

I don't have any particular crossover ideas for this, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed! Perhaps Nimona finds another child with strange powers and decides to bring them to Blackheart in hopes he can help?

The She-Bear

Now this is an interesting take on the Many-Furs fairytale! Just turn into a fucking bear! I'd really love to see exploration of the prince and princess' married life, especially if the princess can still turn into a bear. Does she still do that? Is it an asset in negotiations or war? Does she let her husband ride around on her back while they run through the woods? I would also love to see a deeper exploration of her relationship with her new mother-in-law, and some hurt/comfort between those two women! Despite my DNW list, this is one case where I'd be fine with discussion of the canonical attempted incest from her father.

A crossover with other fairytales of the Many-Furs genre could be interesting. Whether a darker exploration of parental abuse, or perhaps a slightly funnier one where the other princesses complain about how they wanted to get the power to turn into bears.
